ALERT! Mandatory Federal EEOC Poster Change: Scam or Real?

Have you received these mailings?  Poster companies indicate that you can get into labor law posting compliance by buying their posters. They also indicate there is a "new" federal EEOC poster.

What's the truth about it all?

Yes- you must display the federal and state labor posters (in addition to any required state and local government posters).

Let's shed some light:  First of all, the new federal EEOC poster known as, "Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal" poster was released October 19, 2022, not this month as the mailing implies.    Secondly, this poster is free on the EEOC's website: https://www.eeoc.gov/poster

Matter of fact, the state and federal department of labor posters are free as a download.  For example, if you work in Tennessee, visit here: https://www.tn.gov/workforce/general-resources/major-publications0/major-publications-redirect/posters-redirect/required-posters.html

With all that said, if you want to spend $59 to $89 on space saver posters, that's entirely up to you.  Be sure to display the posters in a conspicuous area, such as a break room. Noncompliance with displaying labor posters can result in monetary civil penalties.
