FDA Revokes KN-95 Emergency Use Authorization Image

by Olivia Wann, BS, JD

During the shortage of N95 filtering facepiece respirators, the FDA issued an emergency use authorization of KN95s. KN95s stands for the regulatory standard for filtering facepiece respirators that are certified in China and are not NIOSH-approved.

What are you going to do with all the KN95s? Consider redistributing the current inventory for non-health care settings for non-medical use such as construction or donate to other countries in need. Keep in mind with the emergency use authorization for KN95s having been suspended, you will not be in compliance using these respirators if you are audited.
